Mieke is a talented organic horticulture tutor who loves to share her knowledge at workshops.
After migrating from the Netherlands in 2004, Mieke left a hospitality career of developing businesses to combine her passion for gardening, permaculture, and sustainability. She’s keen to educate people about the simple steps they can take to care for our whenua and reduce waste.
Join us Friday, 9th of May, for a ZERO WASTE POTLUCK LUNCH @ the BROOKLANDS ENVIROHUB 12 PM – 1 PM
Followed by a FREE LET’S COMPOST WORKSHOP 1 PM- 3 PM
Hosted by THE JUNCTION ZERO WASTE HUB in celebration of COMPOST AWARENESS WEEK 4-10 MAY 2025!!!
Please bring food to share for the potluck.
Are you keen to turn your kitchen and garden green/organic waste into compost?
You’ll learn about how and what to compost and how easy it is to start turning organic waste into healthy nutrients for your garden!
You’ll also get info about various composting systems, including compost bins, worm farms, and bokashi!!!
For people who can’t afford to purchase a compost system and for those keen on building their own, we provide tips and ideas on making your own system from ‘waste’ or more affordable materials.
Your discount
After completing a workshop, each household receives a $40 discount off the purchase of their composting system.
Keeping composting affordable
For people who can’t afford to purchase a compost system, talk to us about how much discretionary funding is available to support your needs.
